“America’s last roller rinks are threatened with closure, a community battles in a racially charged environment to save a subculture that has remained undiscovered by the mainstream, yet has been an incubator to some of the world’s greatest musical talent.” (https://www.unitedskatesfilm.com/)

United Skates FREE Movie Screening
Hobart Social Skates and Convict City Rollers are excited to be holding FREE community screenings of the “United Skates” documentary.

This is an important film focused on the history of the roller skate culture and the Black communities in the US where roller skating never died.

Fundraising Raffle Details
In addition to the free screening we are holding an awesome raffle!! Thank you to our generous sponsors. This raffle is open to most states (Victoria and WA – please message us prior to purchase) and will help us raise funds to pay for the costs of running the event (HBO screening fee, movie venue hire), with any additional funds going to support rollerskating in lutruwita/Tasmania via the Convict City Rollers and Hobart Social Skates. We all know how awesome rollerskating is for our health and well being so in addition we will be donating part proceeds to Black Rainbow, a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Sistergirl and Brotherboy (LGBQTI+SB) organisation in the pursuit of positive health and well being for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lesbian LGBQTI+SB.
